Why is my sound in Spanish?

Many stereo TV sets manufactured in the last 20 years or so are capable of decoding a second audio channel known as SAP, which stands for Secondary Audio Program.  Certain programs carry a Spanish translation on the SAP channel.  You may notice the "In EspaƱol where available" at the beginning of those programs.

If you hear Spanish audio on some programs your TV has been switched over to the SAP channel.  Other programs without Spanish will carry normal English audio, so you may not notice the change until a translated show comes on.  ABC7 always carries English as the main stereo audio.

Switching from SAP back to stereo varies with different sets and you may need to consult your owner's manual.  Some remote controls have a button labeled SAP, or you may have to go into a setup menu for the audio.  Somewhere there will be a way to select Stereo instead of SAP.  Make that change and your audio will be normal.  SAP is not in stereo, so your stereo will be restored as well.

If you are unable to switch back to normal audio you may contact ABC7 engineering.  They may be able to offer additional assistance.  Email engineering@wwsb.tv or call (941) 552-0777.
